Title: UniTab Wagers on Natural Language Speech Recognition

On Saturday, betting's biggest day, over 100,000 calls are placed in UniTAB's call centres. This reaches a high of 180,000 calls during the Melbourne Cup. 

In order to combat the sharp increase in calls during this peak period, without the need for expanding the call centre, Salmat was appointed to develop and implement one of the world's first Natural Language Speech Recognition (NLSR) systems. 

Salmat deployed the system which enabled customers to call up and place bets by 'speaking' to the system, without the need to use a complicated touchtone keypad system. 

Over one million bets have been placed via the Salmat speech solution since implementation.
